Maintaining Motivation and Momentum

As students and families start to settle into their “new norm”, you may start to observe a decline in motivation and momentum. Let’s face it, burn-out is a real thing! Together we will share strategies to help you reengage and reignite with your students through remote learning as well as discuss ways to maintain your momentum and boost your motivation!

We invite educators to continue to learn and grow with these resources. Discover and collect new ideas and examples relevant to you after viewing the session video and related resources. Take notes and reflect while you view so you can customize the techniques for your own remote learning and classroom needs and adapt the strategies for your students. Let these guiding questions support your reflective practice after viewing the session and/or reviewing of session materials:

  1. Both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation drive learning in the classroom: What are some ways you can create opportunities to support both these types of motivations for your learners and for yourself in remote learning settings?
  2. Which elements of gamification can be incorporated into your existing remote learning plans? How do you plan on using these elements to foster motivation and momentum?
  3. Both personally and professionally, in what ways are you caring for yourself? In what ways can you model self-care for your students?
