The NLC works to promote partnerships with educators in China. They hold bi-annual summits on China-US relations for educators, policy makers, and business leaders to learn why China-US collaborations are important for creating a globally educated citizenry and workforce. The NLC has established a relationship with the Beijing Royal School for teachers’ professional development in new literacies and for K-12 Chinese students. Two New Literacies Teacher Leader Institutes have been conducted by the NLC team in Beijing. Additionally, the NLC team has helped develop a new school, Suzhou North America High School, to educate students who plan to enroll in top U.S. universities, with a curriculum that incorporates creative thinking and problem-solving skills that the American education system emphasizes, but which is not a widespread practice in China.
