2022 Literacy and Community Initiative Reading Celebration

The Literacy and Community Initiative (LCI) is a collaboration among the NC State College of Education,  the Friday Institute and youth community-based organizations. LCI’s mission is to amplify youth voices through student publications, advocacy and leadership.

Over the years, LCI student authors have published seven books. This year, on May 3, student authors will release three new publications. Youth from Bull City YouthBuild, CORRAL Riding Academy and Refugee Hope Partners will read their written narratives and answer questions on their personal journeys. Come hear their powerful stories and engage with student authors in the community. A reception and book signing will follow.
