Navigating Digital Learning Professional Capacity Building Series
Navigation is the field of study that focuses on the process of guiding and directing the movement of a craft or vehicle from one place to another. As we navigate the digital-age, the teaching and learning process has never been a more complex balance of content knowledge, pedagogical strategies, and technological resources.
Each face-to-face session in this series will prepare educators to implement the must-haves of digital learning and teaching, with additional time for networking and collaboration with peers from across North Carolina in both face-to-face and blended learning environments.
Additionally, we have taken care to directly align this work to the North Carolina Digital Learning Competencies for Teachers — perfect for veteran and beginning teachers alike — to support the mind-shifts and abilities needed to get from where we are to where we want to be.
Your customized experience will be:
Hands-On | Engage with relevant and just-in-time tools and resources to support student-centered, personalized learning for all curriculums and grade levels.
Inquiry-based | You dictate your learning through questions, problem-solving, and collaborative exploration, and reflection.
Job-embedded | Content is grounded in day-to-day teaching practice and is designed to enhance teachers’ content-specific instructional practices with the intent of improving student learning. You own the content you connect with: Take what you learn here share directly with your colleagues and stakeholders for maximum impact.
Network Driven | Participants collaborate and share with other North Carolina teachers in order to support, encourage, and elevate best practices and ideas.
This four-session blended learning experience is brought to you by the Professional Learning and Leading Collaborative of the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at NC State University. Lunch is included and participants that complete this 4 part series will be award of 2.0 CEUs.
The total cost for this series is $495* per participant (includes 4 sessions). Because each session will be a continuation of learning, it is recommended that the same participate attend all 4 sessions.

In order for you to have a great experience, we’ve addressed a few key things below:
What to expect?
Be ready to engage in an interactive day to learn and grow together. If this is your first time visiting the Friday Institute, please make sure you have accurate directions and allow enough timing for the possibility of traffic.
Sessions will run from 9:00am-3:00pm. Please allow appropriate time for potential traffic, as we will start at 9:00am. All sessions will be meeting in the BB&T room. Please stop by the front desk and ask for directions if you have not been to our building before. Additionally, there are electronic hall signs indicating what meetings are taking place in our downstairs rooms.
What to wear?
We want to make our participants comfortable throughout the day and since the building can oftentimes fluctuate in temperature that is beyond our control, consider dressing in layers. Dress is casual, but not too casual!
What to bring?
Please bring a charged mobile device (laptop, Chromebook, iPad, tablet, etc.). The room will be equipped with charging outlets, so do pack your charger if you think you might need it. Internet access will be provided.
You must attend all four sessions to receive your 2.0 CEUs.
