More About the 1:1 Collaborative
The 1:1 Learning Collaborative is an initiative designed to support middle and high schools implementing 1:1 learning technology initiatives where every teacher and student in the school receive a laptop computer and wireless Internet access is provided throughout the school.
The goals of the 1:1 Learning Collaborative are:
- to arm educators in 1:1 schools with the knowledge and skills necessary for planning and implementing successful programs
- to enable teachers to use 21st century tools and resources to teach 21st century content skills
- and ultimately to have students graduate from high school fully prepared for a globally competitive workplace, postsecondary education, informed citizenship, and a successful life.
The work of the 1:1 Learning Collaborative supports and advances the Friday Institute belief that successful education must include dedicated and well-prepared teachers who will provide strong leadership, vision, and inspire children, adolescents and adults to become life-long learners. The professional development and resources offered through the 1:1 Learning Collaborative are designed to help teachers and other instructional staff transition to 1:1 classrooms by focusing on instructional strategies, technology tools for 21st century content, classroom management, and assessment. In addition, the professional development opportunities help district and school leaders plan and implement successful 1:1 programs, by addressing attributes of successful leadership, program planning, evaluation, reporting, technology infrastructure, 21st century content and skills, and instructional technology.
