Video Interviews with Teachers
In Spring, 2008, we began working with teachers in schools with established 1:1 programs to get their perspectives and insight on developing and maintaining a 1:1 program. The questions we've asked them are listed on the pages below, and their responses have been captured in short video clips on the pages that follow.
Taking the First Steps
- Looking back to the implementation of the 1-1 laptop program in your classroom, what would you say was the best thing you did to get the program started?
- What was the greatest challenge in implementing the program with the students?
- How did teaching in a 1-1 environment change your classroom practice?
- What tips for successful implementation would you offer those considering or starting to plan a 1-1 initiative?
Maintaining the Momentum
- What was the greatest challenge in maintaining with the students the initial excitement and momentum of 1-1 learning?
- Has there been an impact on student achievement since the implementation of 1-1 learning that you believe can be correlated to the 1-1 initiative?
- As the weeks passed, did any equipment use or operational problems occur? How were these resolved?
- What three factors do you believe are essential to maintaining progress and success in a 1-1 learning classroom?
Telling the Story
- What are some tips for communicating with parents as a 1-1 learning initiative is implemented?
- What type of interaction with colleagues is essential to the success of 1-1 learning?
- What does it take to keep building and district leadership in the loop and supportive of a 1-1 initiative?
- What has worked the best to gain parent and community buy-in for 1-1 learning?
