The goal of this research is to outline the trajectory of experiences and knowledge that are necessary for the development of an understanding of scale. Understanding scale is critical for students to be scientifically literate and for understanding the new advancements being made in science at very large and very small scales Future advancements in astrophysics, biotechnology, nanoscale science, and geography depend on being able to conceptualize different scales and the laws of nature that apply to each scale system. By working with experts in a variety of fields to understand how they use size and scale in their jobs, researchers will be able to design a curriculum framework that will promote a better understanding of these concepts in the classroom.
