RAMP-UP: Recognizing Accelerated Mathematics Potential in Underrepresented People

Funded by the National Science Foundation and GE Foundation

The purpose of this project is to increase the number of underrepresented students taking Algebra in eighth grade and Calculus in twelfth grade. Students from NC State University and Shaw University are partnering with teachers in grades 3-9 at nine Wake County schools to develop and teach inquiry-based mathematics lessons.  The goal is to make learning meaningful and encourage students from underrepresented groups to pursue advanced courses in mathematics.
