Virtual Computing Initiative

The Virtual Computing Initiative (VCI) represents a community of educators, researchers and IT personnel from universities, community colleges and K-12 systems - together with partners from industry - working together to improve the quality and access of education through:

- Application of technology, system/process analyses and other advanced techniques
- Development and distribution of advanced educational services (e.g., based upon shared hardware, content, and/or software)
- Application of recommended hardware, software, etc. to achieve these goals.

The Friday Institute technology group is actively involved in defining and applying these technologies to meet the needs of 21st century schools. Currently, the group is working with seamless remote application delivery, advanced virtualization management and delivery platforms, and technology tools enabling distance and virtual learning.
