Brown Bag-Dr. Len Annetta
Please attend the next Brown Bag seminar February 25, 2009 at the Friday Institute on NCSU's Centennial Campus. It will begin at 9:00AM with refreshments being served at 8:30AM in the Collaboratory Commons. Our presenters is Dr. Len Annetta. The presentation is entitled Evaluating Indicators of Learning In K‑20 Game‑Based Science.
This talk will describe four ongoing NSF projects about game‑based science learning, focusing on the projects’ indicators for learning: efficacy, interest in science, online presence, and learning through game play and game design. A brief overview of the four projects will be followed by description of the methodology, results, and possible implications for practice.
Len Annetta is Assistant Professor of Science Education, NCSU. His research focuses on distance learning and the role of instructional technology in improving science learning of teachers and students, especially in rural and underserved populations. He is particularly interested in evaluation of video gaming features and environments as a vehicle for synchronous online instruction. He received his Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Missouri/St. Louis.
