Dr. Andy Overstreet
Director of Operations

Dr. Andy Overstreet joined the Friday Institute in 2002 as Director of Operations and Visiting Professor in Educational Leadership in the College of Education. He came to the Friday Institute from Danville, VA where he was Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Overstreet was also Superintendent in Charlottesville, VA and Covington, VA, and in Orange County, NC.  He also has experience as a public school teacher and principal, and he has supervised numerous school construction projects, including the Triangle's first high tech demonstration school, New Hope Elementary in Orange County.

Dr. Overstreet has received numerous leadership awards, including Young Educator of the Year Lynchburg College Graduate Alumni Award, and Fellow and Distinguished Educator in the Institute for the Development of Educational Activities. He has served on leadership and policy boards including the UNC Professional Development School, the NC Research Triangle Science and Math Partnership, and the Center for Educational Leadership at UNC.

He has a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Virginia.
